Meadowlands residents get their Shoprite back

Life slowly getting back to normal in Soweto.

On Thursday, Shoprite in Ndofaya Mall, Meadowlands re-opened its doors to shoppers after it was damaged in last month’s looting spree.

According to a statement from the supermarket franchise group, employees have been working around the clock to restock and rebuild affected stores in Soweto.

“It is thanks to the employees who went the extra mile and helped with clean-up operations. This is despite the trying conditions that the supermarket could re-open in record time,” said Shoprite in a statement.

Life is slowly getting back to normal across Soweto as major shops have started reopening.

These include Roots in Meadowlands and Usave in Bara.

This is going to bring much needed relief to residents as they will also be able to withdraw cash since many ATMs are still not working.
