100 children received bread, sanitary packs and blankets in Eldorado Park

Lady in Pink celebrating 67 minutes of kindness on Mandela Day.

According to co-founder Christopher Booysen, the non-profit organisation distributed 250 loaves of bread, 100 sanitary packs, and 100 blankets to one hundred children in the community of Eldorado Park. The 100 loaves were given to the children and the other 150 were given to other residents in the area.

“Mandela Day is a global call to action that celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world, the ability to make an impact. We as Lady in pink are honoured to serve and bring people together in our communities, knowing there’s still hope to fight poverty,” said Booysen.

Due to the Lockdown Level 4 restrictions, the organisation had no programme for the day, the children and residents just collected the items and left.

“I must say it was heart-warming and overwhelming. Getting involved in the community is always such an honour to make a difference in someone else’s life. It was an overall good day, or should I say better than just good. It’s always a success to see a smile on the other person’s face. The day was meant to remember the services of Mr.

“Mandela and honour them through volunteer work, awareness, and community service. Believing in equality and the need for people to come together and help each other rise above social class and colour which was a success for Lady in Pink and the help of the sponsors. Lastly, we would like to thank our sponsor Spiritual Chords Foundation because they donated towards making today a success,” concluded Booysen.
