Okuhle Bakery gives back to Pimville community

Residents were offered the option to either come and collect the loaves of bread or have them delivered to their doorstep by the Okuhle team.

Okuhle Bakery teamed up with Pimville (PM) Universal Gaming to donate 180 loaves of bread to residents of Pimville and surround areas. The aim behind the initiative was to thank residents for the support shown to the youth-owned Okuhle bakery. “This bakery is run by the youth, as we leave youth month we just wanted to show the community that we appreciate the support we have received from them and still ask them to keep supporting young people. We are also aware of the challenges people are facing, such as unemployment, especially now during covid. We wanted to show that we care about our community,” said Mandla Mkhatshwa for Okuhle Bakery. Residents were offered the option to either come and collect the loaves of bread or have them delivered to their doorstep by the Okuhle team. Pimville resident Sindiswa Mafika said she was inspired by the young team.

“The main shops are a bit far from here. We also have some elderly residents who might not have been able to make the trip. So having the team drop off the bread was special and we are grateful. You understand right now that people are unemployed due to the pandemic, some lost their jobs so this initiative goes a long way and the fact that it is done by young people is inspiring that we can all stand up and do something for our community,” said Mafika.

For help with the delivery, Okuhle teamed up with Pimville gaming who also work closely with the youth.

“This collaboration happened because we share an ideology with Okuhle: to uplift underprivileged communities and we are proud to have been involved today,” said Leonard Makwabela for PM Universal Gaming.
