Stolen goods recovered in Diepkloof, Zone 6

After calm had been restored, law enforcement officials were at work recovering some of the goods suspected to be stolen during looting chaos in parts of Soweto.

After calm had been restored, law enforcement officials were at work recovering some of the goods suspected to be stolen during looting chaos in parts of Soweto in the past two days.

A house in Diepkloof Zone 6 got a surprise visit from the police and according to JMPD spokesperson, Wayne Minaar, the JMPD and SAPS received information of stolen goods at an address in Diepkloof Zone 6 and when they arrived at the address, they found a stolen double door fridge, two single door fridges, and a big coffee machine.

One suspect was arrested and detained at Diepkloof Police Station for possession of stolen goods.

Another suspect was arrested at Kgakgamisigo Street in Naledi following a tipoff from the community about two houses that were allegedly hiding looted building material taken from Zola Builders.

“The officers then proceeded to the given address in Naledi where one suspect was arrested for possession of stolen goods. Then they proceeded to the second address, stolen goods were recovered in the premises, however, no one was in the house,’ Minaar said.

Recovered goods included roof sinks, PVC pipes, timbers, ceiling boards, trap doors, cornice strips, wooden floor tiles, ceramic tiles, and bags of cement. The suspect was detained at the Jabulani Police Station.
