Power utility Eskom said, on Monday that it was aware of outages affecting areas including Pimville, Jabavu, Moroka, and Dlamini.
These outages were caused by trips in the transformers which are a result of network overloading, cable theft, meter bypasses, and vandalism amongst others.
In a statement, the power utility said it has undertaken short-term interventions to remedy this situation and improve the quality of the power supply.

“We are repairing hot connections and cable faults. We have increased security patrols in cable theft hotspots and we are identifying refurbishment projects for these networks,” reads a statement from Eskom.
The power utility went on to urge residents to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal connections and cable theft. Any illegal activity can be reported on the Eskom crime line on 0800 112 722 or via SMS on 32211.
