Pimville residents are gunning for the councillor’s head following power cuts in Pimville.

Pimville residents in the dark longer than usual!

Following a peaceful protest to the councilor’s house on Tuesday night to demand answers about prolonged power cuts in the area, this morning Pimville residents have resorted to blockading Modjadji Street, Pimville’s busiest road.

“Yesterday we had a peaceful protest as Zone 7 and 5 concerned residents. We marched to the councilor demanding to see her,” Said Kamohelo Mojahi.

The residents were made to wait a long while told the councilor is getting ready to see them but she was calling the police saying her life was under threat. “No one had weapons and eventually she came out. We asked to see her communication with Eskom as a councillor. She had nothing to show,” said Karabo Motaung one of the residents leading the protest.

The community recalls how after the police arrived the councillor started shouting she doesn’t care. “We are here to ask her to step down,” one of the protestors told Soweto Urban. The community of Pimville Zone 5 and 7 residents have put together a memorandum following weekly cable thefts and substation maintenance excuses that have left them in the dark longer than usual.

“In a day we get load shedding or load reduction three times. It’s been three days without electricity now,” Motaung said, walking away into the protesting crowd. Ward councillor said Lizzy Mabaso said Eskom technicians were in the area working to fix the issue but were disturbed by protesting residents.
