Eldorado Park has and still is experiencing an increase in Uber/Taxify hijackings and robberies

Eldorado Park SAPS is calling on community convention.

As previously made aware to public knowledge, Eldorado Park has and still is experiencing an increase in Uber/Taxify hijackings and robberies.

Based on the Intel of the previous modus operandi’s used by the offenders, Eldorado Park SAPS had put measures into place to deter the offenders from committing these senseless acts.

However, even though there had been a significant decrease in the specific crime committed for a short while, offenders have now shifted their modus operandi used, targeted areas, and times of committing these offenses.

Although the efforts made by the Eldorado Park SAPS to curb these crimes, by arresting over seventy(70) suspects linked to these crimes since 2018, it hasn’t managed to completely put an end to the dilemma of Uber/Taxify hijackings and robberies.

Due to the gradual increase in these crimes that we are currently experiencing, we have once again identified Sector 2 as the Hotspot Sector with Extension 2, Extension 4, and Extension 6 remaining our priority areas of focus.

We, therefore, call on the entire community of Greater Eldorado Park to assist us in regards to curb the rise of these offenses from occurring within our community. Sadly, offenders who commit these crimes are as young as fifteen(15) years old.

The blatant disregard of commuters who genuinely require the services of Uber/Taxify’s, by these offenders cannot and will not be tolerated, as it negatively impacts the entire community as a whole.

We, therefore, emphasize the utmost importance of community members reporting any suspicious or criminal activities that could be linked to these offenses. The contact numbers to call are Eldorado Park SAPS on 011 9460300 or 082 444 3001 or our Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111. The community members may do so anonymously. Let us take our community back and expose those who have negative intentions. Your participation in this fight against crime is highly appreciated.
