announced in a press release that Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) will be gifting all mothers in the city with free access into the Zoo, on Sunday, May 9 to celebrate Mother’s Day.

JCPZ will not able to celebrate their annual Mother’s Day concert at the Joburg Zoo, which always had everyone dancing to great tunes. This Mother’s Day, 9 May, mothers will be allowed free access to the zoo from 9am to 11am and on a first come first serve basis which will be limited to the first 500 mothers with a maximum of 2 000 people.

The general public including children will pay the normal entrance fees of R110 per adult and R65 per child. This will apply to moms who arrive after 11h00.

“With sufficient space for picnics and safe distancing, the zoo is ideal for moms and their families to celebrate Mother’s Day and view our newest moms at the Joburg Zoo, including their off-springs such as the African Buffalo; a Mandrill baboon and an Nyala,” said Arnolds in the press release.

The Johannesburg Zoo strives to comply with all Covid regulations and it remains compulsory for all visitors to wear their masks, practice safe distancing by staying within the safety of your bubble with people you are frequently in physical contact with, and by sanitizing at all times.
