MMC Moerane condemn ‘fake’ Pikitup posts

Cllr Mpho Moerane has condemned 'fake' social media posts claiming waste management Company, Pikitup up is hiring.

City of Johannesburg Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Environment and Infrastructure Services, Cllr Mpho Moerane has condemned ‘fake’ social media posts claiming waste management Company, Pikitup up is hiring.

Several posts have been making the rounds on social media for the past few weeks, claiming that the City of Johannesburg’s waste management company, Pikitup would be hiring general workers from April 20. However, Cllr MMC Moerane has said that the posts are untrue.

In a statement released by Moeranes’s department.

“Pikitup appeals to members of the public to not heed the fake messages posted on social media platforms purporting that it will be employing general workers,” the statement said.
The statement also went on to remind community members of the City’s employment process.

“Residents are reminded that Pikitup undertakes a personnel recruitment process, such a process is normally undertaken in compliance with the Labour Relations Act, which imposes a duty on organizations to advertise posts on public platforms to enable all interested parties with an equal opportunity to compete or the advertised position.”

The City said that if or when posts did become available, the vacancies would be advertised on newspapers and the City’s website, not on social media.
MMC Moerane was also in Dobsonville on Wednesday where he, along with his team delivered new Pikitup bins to community members.
