Man(61) assaulted to death by mob justice in Braamfischerville for rape
A 61-year- old man accused of raping a 4-year-old child in Braamfischerville was allegedly assaulted to death by an angry mob.
A 61-year- old man accused of raping a 4-year-old child in Braamfischerville was allegedly assaulted to death by an angry mob on Tuesday, April 13. The man was arrested for the matter in hand on Sunday, April 11, and was allegedly released after appearing in court.
At around 18:00, the police were called to attend a complaint about a mob justice that was taking place at Braamfischerville. The police went to the scene and on arrival, they were denied access.
Community members started throwing stones towards the police vans and threatened them.

Public Order Police were then called to the scene and on arrival, they found that the man had been brutally beaten and had unfortunately died. The paramedics declared and certified him dead on the scene.
“The community got angry when they discovered that the deceased was released by the court after rape allegations, hence the mob justice. Investigation concerning this matter is ongoing,” said Vusi Thokwana, Dobsonville Police station Communications Officer.
