Diepkloof SAPS police are warning criminals that there will be serious consequences for any type of crime.

Diepkloof SAPS are warning criminals that there will be serious consequences for any type of crime, setting an example with a 40-year-old man who was finally convicted and sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment for an armed robbery which he committed 4 years ago in Diepkloof.

“It was back in 2017 in September when a male victim reported a case of armed robbery by a 40-year-old suspect. The case was given to investigate officer, Sergeant Sonnyboy Magengenene who investigated the case and successfully arrested the suspect. The suspect appeared at the Orlando Magistrate Court on Wednesday, April 7, 2020, and was sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment for robbery, an unlicensed firearm, and ammunition,” said Diepkloof spokesperson Phephi Matlou.

The 40-year-old was also declared unfit to possess a firearm for a lifetime, meaning he will never be allowed to own a gun in his life.

“This is a warning to all the criminals in the community that there is no place for crime, no crime is a small crime. Every crime is considered a serious offense and perpetrators will be arrested and given a hard punishment. We commend detective Magengenene for his determination that finally led to the arrest and conviction of this suspect,” Phephi concludes.

The community is urged to report any criminal activities and to not apprehend and assault suspects.
