Phenomenal Women taking steps to heal in Kliptown

Phenomenal Women, an organisation based in Kliptown hosted a fundraiser breakfast titled 'Talitha Cumi; Little Girl Arise'

Phenomenal Women, an organisation based in Kliptown hosted a fundraiser breakfast titled ‘Talitha Cumi; Little Girl Arise’ at the Albertus Pop Recreation Centre.

The event was organised after women from the Phenomenal Women organisation realised that there are so many women who are walking around with scars that they never dealt with.

Some of the guests who were present at the event shared their traumatic stories of gender-based violence (GBV), rape, of being molested and even those who have overcome drug abuse spoke about their experiences.

The group from Phenomenal Women would like to see mothers who are supported and strong in faith, for them to trust that change will come in the community if they all unite.

“We are the warriors of the future. We are mandated to run and not stop unless the change is upon us. We are calling on the women of Eldorado Park to come on board with Phenomenal Women, to take our hands and walk together one day at a time. We are called to bring change and it starts with us,” said Chriszelda Jooste- Swartz from Phenomenal Women.

The fundraiser breakfast was also supported by other organisations in the community and Phenomenal Women would like to thank; Kliptown SAPS, the chairman of the Kliptown Community Policing Forum (CPF); Billy Petersen, PUSH, I MATTER, Women Alive, YzerBeck Royal House, and all other supporting structures that came out in support of the fundraiser.
