Villa of Hope receives donations from Crime Fighters

Eldorado Park Crime Fighters looking to change the community, one donation drive at a time.

The Eldorado Park Crime Fighters from extension 9 had their first for 2021 Villa of Hope Donation Drive on March 27. The group of twenty-five members who make up the Crime Fighters collects and donates items to Villa of Hope every four months.

Vincent Naidoo who is the chairman of the Crime Fighters said: “We want the community of Eldorado Park to be encouraged to make the community a better place. A lot of the time Eldorado Park is highlighted for the negative aspects that take place in our community because of gangsterism and drugs.

There is a lot of positive stories coming out of Eldorado Park but that is unfortunately not highlighted. We as the Crime Fighters of extension 9 want people to see the good that is happening in the community. We try to help out with charity work because we want to create a better society.”

For the last seven years, the Crime Fighters have been donating to the Villa of Hope. Villa of Hope is a non-profit organisation in Nancefield that focuses on care for children who are orphans or require care due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment of children with illnesses such as HIV and Aids.

The Crime Fighters along with the Church of Christ, the Pentecostal Protestant Church (PPC) in extension 9, and even residents outside of the area helped out with donations. The group collects stationery, clothes, toys, and even old furniture for the Villa of Hope. “We do not accept money, rather goods. Those who can assist with grass cutting, maintenance on the homes, anything is welcome,” added Naidoo.

The Crime Fighter who patrol night and day in extension 9 is already starting with collections for their next Villa of Hope Donation Drive and will have their next drop off in July.
