Youngage to go beyond the month Human Rights month

After donating 1000 school shoes to 40 schools around the Gauteng province in December 2020, Youngage is looking to continue the school shoes drive in 2021, revealed Molise.

Soweto-based Non-Profit Company (NPC), Youngage Foundation recently teamed up with Assupol Life Insurance to donate 250 sanitary towels to girls at Aurora Secondary School in Soweto. The donation was to honour Human rights day, however, the founder of the Youngage Foundation, Louisa Molise, said that such acts should go beyond March.

“Every girl has the right to dignity, education, and safety,” said Molise.

“We are extremely proud to have donated to girls. We are thankful to Assupol and truly honoured to work with such a big rand. We also want to say thank you to Aurora Girls for giving us the opportunity. However, we are looking to continue giving beyond human rights month.”

Molise revealed that plans were already underway to also donate hygiene packages to schoolboys.
“We feel that boys are also neglected in society and want to donate something that can help. The plan is to donate hygiene products to schoolboys as well as provide mentorship sessions. I think with so many social issues going on, such as GBV, it is very important to expose young boys to good role models,” she said.

“We are still saying that every child deserves to be empowered. We want these kids to be the next leaders and it’s very important for us to do our best in helping these young kids and that’s why the school shoe drive is so important,” she said.

The school shoes drive is expected to get underway in June 2021.
