Police confirm cash in transit robbery in Diepkloof Zone 2

The police are appealing to anyone with information to call Crime Stop number 086 00 10111 or send tip-offs on MySAPS App.

With all the videos making the rounds on social media, alleging that there was cash in transit robbery in Diepkloof, Gauteng South Johannesburg District SAPS has confirmed that there has been a Cash-in-Transit robbery on Friday, March 19 at Immick Drive opposite Extreme Park in Zone 2 Diepkloof.

It is reported that the cash vehicle was pulling away at the intersection when a VW Polo allegedly rammed it on the driver’s side.

“The cash van stopped on the middle island of Immick Drive. A bakkie drove up and the occupants opened fire on the cash prompting the driver and crew to get out. Suspects then allegedly used explosives to bomb the armored vehicle. They fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in three vehicles,” said



According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Brenda Muridili in a statement issued.

A rifle belonging to the security guards was allegedly recovered in Baragwanah Rd Zone 2 Diepkloof. One security guard was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.
