“As we approach the season where it becomes dark early and criminals take advantage of the darkness and rob people of their belongings, we are also appealing to the business premises to close on time to avoid business robberies. The area of Diepkloof has a lot of open spaces and the street lights are not working, we are appealing to the community to avoid such places,” Matlou added.

To ensure the safety of the community, Matlou says that police will be patrolling in the streets as usual, but when people use shortcuts and opt for open spaces routes, it may be difficult to protect them.
