The sewerage builds up around the Meadowlands Stadium and the state of the stadium itself has become like a nightmare to the people from the area.

The DA PR Councillor for the area Chantelle Fourie-Shawe went to see the stadium so she could intervene.

Petrus Thusi showed the PR Councillor the way, Thusi explained, “The stadium has been in this state for about 2 years now. The contractors just left the project halfway through, because they lacked funding from the city.”

Fourie-Shaw made it a point that she found out about the rumours and she was told that there is only funding available to continue this stormwater build and repairs project in the 2022/23 financial year.

Fourie-Shaw said, “It seems like nothing is being done in the meantime to keep the area around the stadium safe and clean. This is a clear health and safety risk for the surrounding households, so I have submitted an official question in Council to the MMC for Community Development around these concerns and what their plans are regarding these concerns. I will give feedback to the community as soon as it has been received.”
