NSFAS has received more applications in 2021 than in most years

Status update on NSFAS 2021 new applications.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) would like to congratulate the matric class of 2020 on their achievement, especially under these difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the 2021 application cycle, NSFAS has received an unprecedented number of applications in comparison to previous years.

Approximately 730,000 online applications were received and additionally, approximately 60,000 applications were received through the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college walk-in process.

NSFAS is currently finalising the due diligence and quality checks of the application information received and will communicate funding results once the verification and quality assurance processes are complete, to ensure credibility.

It is imperative to note that NSFAS will fund eligible students once they have been registered at a public university or TVET college.

Students are hereby given assurance that NSFAS is aware and takes into account, that communication should be finalised before the registration windows of the various learning institutions close.

The release of matric results is indeed an important step; however, it is not the final one. Students are advised to regularly track their funding statuses on the myNSFAS portal, this will also assist them to upload any pending documents where required.
