A group of grade 11 science and mathematics learners at Emshukantambo Secondary School were gifted a donation of scientific calculators from Geleza Nathi.

The handover was held at Emshukantambo Secondary School on Monday morning and was part of GeleZa Nathi’s effort to help learners ace their maths and science. The learners are also part of a learning programme by Geleza Nathi in partnership with the school. The calculators are an essential part of the work that will be covered throughout the year and will go a long way in helping learners get the best results. This was according to the school’s project co-ordinator, Pule Hlahane.

“These calculators will be very useful, anyone in the science stream will tell you how important it is that you have a fully functional, up to standard calculator, so we are very grateful to Geleza Nathi,” Hlahane said.

One learner who will certainly put the scientific calculator to good use is Luyanda Nyathi.
“I had lost mine, so we do appreciate these, and we appreciate being a part of this group. We’ve all grown and learned a lot in our time with Geleza Nathi and this programme,” Nyathi said.

Meanwhile, Onica Majara encouraged other learners to get involved in similar programmes.
“It’s been an educational and challenging experience. I want to encourage more learners to get involved in programmes like these, don’t sit back and relax. You need to step forward and be present, there is a lot you can gain,” she said.

Hlahane closed off the day by thanking the Gelelza Nathi team for the initiative.
“We’ve been fortunate enough to work with Geleza Nathi for the past 10 years or so. We appreciate their efforts to work with young minds and improve them. The learners we see here today, we want to see them doing well in Grade 12 next year and beyond that. But also to encourage other learners and show them that there are rewards for hard work.”

The school’s Principal, Richard Masemola also expressed his gratitude for the collaboration.
