Redefining beauty by celebrating women’s unique body

African beauty matter.

Redefining Beauty Campaign has been hosting its annual Women’s Day events since August 09, 2015, which is an online photography campaign that focuses on celebrating women’s unique bodies.

The campaign was founded by Kamo Magabane, who is a business analyst by profession, an events manager by passion, and a businesswoman by default. Magabane is a social activist and an influencer.

The campaign held its photoshoot last year in August, and their theme for the photoshoot was simply “The Year of the Queen” and so it is through this photography campaign that each lady defines what a queen looks like. This is whereby women can see and judge themselves based on their standard of beauty and not what they see in magazines, tv, or even social media.

“Our campaign seeks to celebrate self-love and portray the beauty of the female body in all forms. We showcase each woman’s uniqueness through photography, the previous year we were focusing on individuality and celebrating all shades of Nubia. Self-love means having a high regard for your own Identity, well-being, and happiness. Taking care of your own yourself, your needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. Self-love means something different for each person because we all have many ways to take care of ourselves so it should be with beauty and the definition of beauty.” Said Magabane.

“Through this campaign, we have started an empowerment movement that promotes self-love, confidence, and body positivity. It is through this initiative that we spark conversations on social media around body image, beauty, standards, fashion trends, and societal pressures women face.” She added.

The campaign hosts weekly conversations on Instagram where different women of different calibres are interviewed on topics to inspire other women, both young and old.
