Importance of road safety outlined at the Baragwanath taxi rank

Taxis play their part

The JMPD Community Outreach Unit Members engaged with the local Taxi Drivers and passengers plus pedestrians from Soweto about the importance of road safety.

The campaign took place at Bara Taxi Rank where even people from different rural areas depart.

The spokesperson for the JMPD, Wayne Minnaar said, “We emphasized the importance of wearing a mask during this pandemic and the implications of not wearing one while out in public.”

The taxi marshals ensured the officers that everyone gets sanitized and that no person without a face mask was allowed to take a ride.

Mlungisi Vange from Protea Glen said, “We appreciate the effort of the JMPD because, without taxis, some of us would be jobless.”
