Driver shot dead during a hijacking in Claremont
The suspects fled the scene on foot.
Yesterday around 13h38 at Corner Princess and Hill street in Claremont a driver was short dead following a hijacking incident.
According to the Sophiatown SAPS communications officer, Captain Jerbes de Bruyn, It is alleged by a witness that he was at his place of residence when he saw a white Toyota Corolla on the corner of Princess and Hill street and one coloured male approached the vehicle, indicating that he is one who requested a ride.
He then went into the passenger’s side and took out a firearm and the driver pulled off and the suspect then shot the driver.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and collided into a palisade fence of a house in Princess street Claremont and died on the scene.
The suspects fled the scene on foot.
No arrests have been made and a case of murder is being investigated.
