Suspects arrested for using fraudulent cards at the Caltex garage in Dube

A member of Orlando SAPS received information telephonically from the registered informant about suspects who were busy filling up diesel with a fraudulent card at at the Caltex garage in Dube.

The member tasked the information to keep observation on the vehicle of the suspects while proceeding to the garage. On arrival the SAPS member found the suspects still being interviewed by the garage employees, members of Orlando SAPS CPU arrived at the garage too

The suspects were found to be driving a white Toyota Hilux bakkie together with a diesel tank trailer. The suspects were using a BP FLEET CARD which the petrol attendant noticed that it was fraudulent after the suspects had filled up their tank with diesel worth R19 000,00.

The vehicle was tested via registration CK46XYGP affixed at the vehicle and it came out as a White Toyota Corolla, trailer was tested too and came out to be belonging to a trailer hire, further inquiry was done, and the cars were able to be traced to their rightful owners.

Both suspects were arrested on the spot and taken to Orlando SAPS for detention and further interviews.

During the interview Suspect, no1 who was the driver of the bakkie was interviewed and he mentioned that he has only three days working for the company, he was hired by a man who happens to be a Zimbabwean national. He was given a fleet card and told to go buy diesel at any Total or Caltex Garage around Gauteng.

He also told him that the card swipes once-off, and the daily limit is R19000-00. The Suspect further mentioned that they swiped diesel at Total Garage Dube on Saturday 2021-01-09 to the amount of R19 000-00 using the same fleet card and went to drop it at the Diesel Depot in Tembisa.

A member of Orlando SAPS went to Total Garage at Dube where the Information was confirmed to be true and they advised to open a case against the suspects. With the Information supplied by the suspect, members of Orlando SAPS, JMPD, and Soweto CI decided to proceed to Tembisa together with the suspect to check the depot.

On arrival two African males were found and interviewed at the presence of the suspect, the suspect pointed out the two suspects as ones who are working under a man who hired him and said to be the ones who receives the diesel when delivered, the suspects were both arrested on the spot. Suspects were brought back to Orlando SAPS where cases were opened against them and are detained.
