Social media mourns death of gospel singer, Israel Mosehla

A minister of the word and an award-winning gospel music icon Israel Mosehla has died at the age of 50. 

A minister of the word and an award-winning gospel music icon Israel Mosehla has died at the age of 50. 

The star was born in Soweto into a worshiper family. His mother was a musician and his father a preacher. Born in a strong Ministry background, he grew up to be a great worshipper. 

Mosehla started his singing career back in the 80s where he composed and released three albums with his brothers. He won the prestigious Crown Gospel Awards under the categories Best Gospel Male Artist. 

The year 1985 saw Mosehla with his brother Isaiah Mosehla and his two friends Bongani Matsobane and Jabu Nkabinde forming a dynamic gospel group called G Effect.

The group released two albums produced by the legendary Sizwe Zako.

The group toured to the USA, UK, and Brazil between the years 2003 and 2005. They also had an opportunity to perform in New York, Chicago, Ohio, Dallas, and London.  

Mosehla also toured African countries such as; Zambia, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Senegal, and Zimbabwe. 

He worked on a solo album titled ‘Nzulu’ which consists of 12 tracks, with a mixture of praise and worship songs. He has worked with Sipho Big Fish Makhabane and Ringo Mkhari as co-producers and the wonderful team Musa Malinga, Mxolisi, and Musa Mngwenya.

In the year 2007, he opened his record label Kgabo Music Productions. In 2010 he won the Award for Best Praise Album for Praise and Worship encounter with Israel Mosehla at the Crown Gospel Music Awards.

In October 2020, Mosehla released a single titled ‘you are holy’ an Afro House Version.

Mosehla is well known for his hit songs ‘Alpha and Omega’, ‘Father we adore you’, ‘Ke Utlewa Lerato ‘, ‘Endaweni Ephakeme’, to name a few.
