Two males detained in Eldorado Park for carjacking

The mighty hand of the law catches criminals again.

On Thursday 17 December 2020 Eldorado Park SAPS members arrested and detained two males on the charge of Carjacking.

It is alleged by the 24-year-old male victim that he had received a drop off request in Eldorado Park. According to the victim at approximately 16h00 on the same day, three males got into his vehicle and requested that he drops them off in George Camp Street, Old Eldorado Park. Upon arrival at the requested location, the passenger informed the victim that one of the passengers at the back was going to pay for their trip.

Suddenly the male who was seated behind the victim grabbed him from behind and started choking him. One of the three suspects then took out a firearm and pointed it at the victim. They instructed him to lay still and relax, or they were going to shoot him and drove to another house where they picked up four additional males.

The suspects then robbed the victim of his two cellphones and a cash amount of three hundred and fifty rands (R350. 00) and thereafter told him to get into the boot of his vehicle, a Honda Ballade.

The victim further alleges that the suspects drove his vehicle around and were robbing people. He also indicated that Police spotted his vehicle and instead of stopping, the suspects attempted to flee.

The suspect that was driving the vehicle eventually lost control during the chase and attempted to run away, however, the Police managed to apprehend two suspects. Whilst searching the vehicle, the Eldorado Park SAPS members found the victim inside the boot of his vehicle.

Both the 23-year-old and 20-year-old male suspects were arrested and taken to Eldorado Park SAPS where they were detained for Carjacking. They will appear in the respective court during the week.

Management of Eldorado Park SAPS has applauded the outstanding performance of the two members. They indicated that due to the increased stop and search patrols we have managed to save a life. Eldorado Park SAPS commends the well-executed operation conducted by the two members, including their bravery and determination.
