Ensley Britoe, the founder of the Gail Britoe Foundation (GBF) shared exciting news about their Christmas party this year.

Britoe from Eldorado Park Extension 2 who started the foundation eight years ago on the late Nelson Mandela’s birthday expressed that it has been very challenging but it has been the best eight years of her life.

He said that the eight years were special because he was able to make a difference in people’s lives in his community. What makes everything worth it for Britoe is seeing the smiles on children’s faces and the appreciation that he gets from the elders.

“Our foundation is not funded but God has been our provider. Today, I would like to show gratitude to Old Mutual Insurance for helping us since the start of Covid-19. For them, it is a Covid-19 project but for us, it is a life-changing experience. We are closing the year off with our Christmas party and I must say that this has been the most beautiful year for us. I’ve cried so much this year but it was tears of joy because of everything that has been done for our children at the foundation.”

The Gail Britoe Foundation will be having a toy drive for Christmas this year and the aim is to give 500 children toys. With help from Old Mutual Insurance, residents, and local churches, they have already raised 174 gifts to be donated to children.

“Today, Old Mutual Insure donated R40 000, not in cash but in gifts that they will be giving to our kids,” said Britoe.

This year the organisation will not be having hotdogs for the children at the party but will have sponsored catering for a full course meal.

The foundations feed about 98 children three times a week in Extension 2 and ever since they started, they have not missed even one feeding day.

“Firstly, thank God for always sending His people to be a blessing to us. Special thanks to Old Mutual Insurance for taking extremely good care of my community from the start of Covid 19 till today. Thank you to my extremely supportive Britoe family, Mrs. Alleweya Goss, Mrs. Viona Solomons, Mrs. Ourania Samuels, Mr. Clement Nwokoro, Mrs. Shakeera Booysen, Mr. and Mrs. Kaldine, Mr. Shafiek Armien, Miss Nikita Klaaste, and a special thanks to Team GBF for their commitment and dedication. These guys have shown me that they want to grow in life, they are only volunteer’s but they go the extra mile, I’m so proud of them.”

The children from the foundation are sure excited for their Christmas party as they won’t only be getting gifts, treats, and a three-course delicious meal, they will also be having jumping castles and water slides. From Urban News, we wish all a blessed festive.
