1000 school shoes for 40 schools around Gauteng

The schools donated to were in Pretoria, Soweto, Eastrand, Westrand, Pretoria, and Johannesburg Central.

The Youngage foundation is on extraordinary campaign: to handover 1000 school shoes in 40 schools around Gauteng. The team has been on the road almost every day, to ensure that 25 pairs of school shoes are donated to a school in need each day.

Louisa Molise, founder of the Youngage Foundation said after the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, she hoped the initiative would ease the burden on parents.
“We know a lot of people lost their jobs in the past few months,” she said.

“We do this annually, but have never done it on such a big scale. This year is different because of Covid-19 that has hit families very hard with all the impact of Covid we wanted to go the extra mile and give just a little extra.”

The schools donated to were in Pretoria, Soweto, Eastrand, Westrand, Pretoria, and Johannesburg Central.

Chairperson of Dikgabane Primary School’s Governing Body, Emily Makoloane said she was very grateful and hoped that initiative would stretch even further.

“Parents lost their jobs, so this project was beneficial not just to the learners, but to us the parents as well, because it eased the financial burden of buying school shoes. There is one less thing to worry about now and we can take care of everything else.”

The initiative was made possible by various sponsors including Assupol Life Insurance, Hungry Lion, Rand Mutual Assurance, and Samaritan Feet to name a few.


Dikgabane Primary School was the latest school to receive 25 pairs of shoes from the Youngage foundation.

Hungry Lion’s Senior Communications Manager, Denise Neething said: “Hungry Lion is proudly South African and embraces the welfare of Mzansi’s children. We are committed to empowering the communities we serve and supporting school and youth projects is high on our priority list.”

Molise concluded by thanking sponsors and sending a message to parents.

“We are also very grateful to the various sponsors who have come on board with the project, we really could not do it without them. to the parents, we’re asking them to work with us by helping with the good maintenance of the shoes, ” she said.

Youngage recently handed over 600 school shoes in various schools in the City of Ekurhuleni.
