Tshepang Kuna(16) putting his DJ dream to action

Up and coming Tshepang aiming for the sky.

Meet Tshepang Kuna from Pimville who, not only dreams of becoming a DJ but has already started putting his dream into action.

The 16-Year-old believes he has all the makings of a DJ and just needs a breakthrough. “I’m still fairly new to it, but I’ve enjoyed it so far. I haven’t done any performances and I’m looking forward to starting, and I’m sure I’ll be successful,” he said.

His sound, as he described it, is mostly house, but with a mixture of something new. His inspiration, he said, was Dj Jaivane. “I like Dj Jaivane’s sound. It’s different from what everyone else is doing and that’s what inspired me, to try and create a different sound. So he’s been the biggest influence on me.,” said Kuna

Although determined to follow his dream, Tshepang is very much focused on his schooling for the moment. “I’m still in school and that’s the first priority. My family doesn’t bother me much about my music, as long I keep the school part in check then I don’t think they would have any problems.”

Tshepang will be looking to follow in the footsteps of another Sowetan through-and-through Dj and music producer, Vusinator. Much like Tshepang, the 23-year-old Vusinator honed his skills using his virtual Dj laptop set, and rose to success with the hit Gigabyte where he featured Killa and Soso. The song bulldozed the South Africa charts earning 2.3 million streams since its release last year. Vusinator paved the way and Tshephang believes there no reason young djs can’t follow suit.

“it’s a motivation for us young Djs, to see someone from here ekasi making those type of moves, and I think if we put in the effort that we can achieve something similar, and even more,” concluded Tshepang.
