Telkom Monate Vibes takes off with a bang

The nine - week-long program will see performances from some of Mzansi's biggest stars

Telkom is bringing South Africans into the festive season with a brand new music show guaranteed to have both the young and the old entertained after an underwhelming 2020 that has, for the most part, kept everyone indoors.

The new show – Telkom Monate Vibes – which is now in its 3rd segment, is a nine-week episode program aired on SABC 1 and Telkom One every Sunday at 6 pm. Each episode will see a stage performance by one of South Africa’s biggest music talents from the present and the past. The show is hosted by TV personality Anele Mdoda alongside social media guru and content creator, Lasizwe.

This 1-hour long music show is part of Telkom’s summer campaign: Live Your Monate, providing viewers with the best variety of music with exclusive artist performances from almost every musical genre. The top class production does well in making giving viewers a real concert feeling whilst also providing artists with a platform to showcase their talents.

The first episode, which aired on the 15th of November took us back in time with a performance from the iconic trio, TKZee. Ami Faku and Amanda Black had us smitten with powerful individual performances in the second episode.

One of the show’s new viewers, Busisiwe Kubheka, said she liked the originality of the show.
“It’s a bit like a live performance,” she said.

“It’s new and different. I think the production team did a really cool job with the way they set it up and gave it that real feel, especially during performance sections. I’m still looking forward to seeing more performances.”

Over the next few weeks, a star-studded schedule will include performances from mzansi’s favorite stars such as Nasty C, Lira, King Monada, and an Amapiano special which will see various artists take to the stage.

Telkom this year, celebrates its 10th year in the mobile business. Telkom’s Executive for Brand and Product Segments, Gugu Mthembu said it was important to celebrate with South Africans.

“We have come a long way as a business, first establishing our position as a challenger mobile operator in the country and recently becoming South Africa’s third-largest mobile operator. We have a lot to be proud of, including our recent business performance that has seen our mobile and data business grow rapidly during lock-down. In the same breath, it has been an incredibly tough year for not only us as Telkom, but also for the country. While it is key to take stock as we draw closer to the end of the year, it is also important to us to celebrate the milestones with the most important people in our business: our employees, our customers, and South Africans,” she said.
