Two suspects wanted for murder and housed robbery

The Eldorado Park SAPS attended a scene of the murder and house robbery in Kgwedi Street, Freedom Park, Devland.

In the early hours of Thursday morning 29 October 2020, members of the Eldorado Park SAPS attended a scene of the murder and house robbery in Kgwedi Street, Freedom Park, Devland.

It is alleged that two unknown males entered the home of the victim at approximately 02h00, which caused her to wake up from her sleep. Her twelve-year-old daughter also awoke as she heard unfamiliar voices in the house, but decided to remain in her bedroom and only peeped to see what was happening.

It is further alleged that the victim tried speaking to the suspects when one of the two suddenly withdrew a firearm and shot the victim in her chest. The suspects thereafter proceeded to take a JVC 42cm television and one Nokia cellphone, both items estimated to be approximately nine thousand rands (R9000), and left the premises.

Whilst the suspects were in the street, the one male fired another shot in the air and they drove off in an unknown vehicle. The two male suspects were both wearing blacks face masks and winter beanie hats. They, fortunately, did not see the twelve-year-old child who had remained silent in her bedroom during the disturbing ordeal.

The community leaders and concerned community members were addressed by the acting Station Commander, Visible Policing commander, Communications Officer, and Social Crime Prevention members.

The community was sensitized on how to avoid becoming a victim and a general crime campaign was held, whereby pamphlets were distributed amongst the community. The members of the community raised all their concerns which were addressed and the way forward was received in a positive light.

They also established a community night watch whereby they have assured the support and consistent interaction of the Eldorado Park SAPS. A” marriage” of fighting crime between the Eldorado Park SAPS and the community of Freedom Park emerged, as it was identified that we need to join and form this union in the fight against crime.

Anyone with any information relating to the incident is urged to contact Eldorado Park SAPS on 011 9460300 or our SAPS Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111. The community is reminded that they can do such anonymously if they so wish.
