Good samaritans assisted an elderly couple in Freedom Park with fixing their house

The couple house burnt last year in October.

United Golden Founders Community Forum, also known as AmaFounder by residents from Freedom Park, has recently assisted an elderly couple with their house after a fire caused by electrical issues.

Theo Mdingi from the forum explained that their main objective is for the community of Freedom Park to self-administrate whatever needs to be done in the community. The forum has started a few months ago and has already been involved in two projects in Freedom Park.

“The house burnt in October last year. The couple had to move back into the old shack which was now their storeroom. They had to move back because of the conditions of the burnt house.

“I heard that there were a few leaders in the community who came to take photos to see where they can assist the couple, it’s a year now that the house burnt and there was a lockdown so nothing has been done for the couple.”

“We as a forum decided to stand up and help these elderly people. We asked hardware in Devland, Eldorado Park, and Kliptown to donate items, so they helped us with the equipment that we needed to assist with repairing the house. We never hired anyone; we did the work all by ourselves,” explained Mdingi.

According to Mdingi, the Ngubane Family (the elderly couple) were very grateful to the forum for their new and improved home. The team started on Saturday, October 24, and finished the very next day with all the work that needed to be done on the house.

“The only thing that we are short of is the wiring, we never got the actual wire for the house. The cause of the fire last year was because of the electrical cables in the house. If anyone can come forward with the wire to assist the family, we would appreciate it. We already have someone who will be installing the wire in the house,” concluded Mdingi.
