Male patient allegedly raped at Bheki Mlangeni Hospital in Jabulani, Soweto
This incident follows four violent incidents that were reported earlier this year.
The Gauteng Health Department probing an investigation regarding an alleged rape incident that occurred at the Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital this past weekend.
According to the MEC of Health spokesperson, Kwara Kekana a report surfaced that a 16-year-old mental healthcare user was allegedly sexually assaulted, and the South African Police services were notified to investigate thereafter.
In a statement released by the Gauteng Health, acting Gauteng MEC Jacob Mamabolo has set up a team to conduct a thorough investigation at Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital.

Yesterday department officials were sent to the hospital to establish facts around the case which pointed to a need to further probe the matter.
“I want to reassure members of the public that the issue of safety at our public health facilities is a priority. We continue to work with law enforcement agencies to strengthen preventative and response measures,” said MEC Mamabolo.
The Gauteng Department of Health is currently providing medical and psychological support to the patient and has already provided counseling to their family.
