Experience another side of xSipping on his debut album ‘Umthala’

xSipping finds his own lane.

Protea Glen’s very own xSipping aka Siphosenkosi Ncube took the leap of faith and quit his 9-5 job after getting a production placement with Roc Nation’s artist at the age of 27.

The international music producer and sound engineer grew up in Orlando, where his musical background kicked in, his older brother founded one of the biggest musical choirs in Orlando East.

It wasn’t such a surprise for xSipping to pursue a career in music after he was introduced to beat making by a friend back in 2008. By 2014, the young xSipping released his first EP called the Beatsmith Chapters: Unlocking Sounds, after teaching himself how to make beats for years.

xSipping said, “I felt really good about my music by then, but, I was still experimenting with sounds, I had a lot of ideas then, so I was still finding my own lane.” The young pioneer went on to drop four more instrumental tapes before his well-received project called Butter 2, in which he worked with Vosloorus based ASAP Shembe and Fireman. Butter 2 was a diverse sound project with sounds from Kwaito, Hip Hop, Trap, and some Nguni energy. xSipping has already sold out physical copies, topped some charts, and produced songs that had big local names like Emtee featured.

The 27-year old who is currently promoting his debut album titled Umthala, his most personal project by far, because he has been working on it for more than a year. Umthala means galaxy and it could be the album his fans and the masses can get to experience a side of xSipping that has never been experienced before. Influenced by Chico Twala, Lebo M, Busi Mhlongo, and Mindlo Spikiri, xSipping’s first album has the subtle sounds of Trap music and what they would call Nguni energy, a fuse of Kwaito, Hip Hop, Jazz, Mbaqanga, Funk, Maskandi, and Township Pop.

xSipping said, “Home is a feeling, not a place and with this album I wanted people to feel, more than anything.” After getting the opportunity to work with the international artist signed by Roc Nation, Paris, xSipping said that it gave him validation at the time when he needed to be signed as a sign of his validation, “That was the sign I needed, it opened up my mind.”
