Desiree Oliphant encourages women to stand by each other with her #Switch movement

#Switch: She 'uplifts' and empowers.

Desiree Oliphant, a finalist in Mrs. United Nations South Africa and a contestant in the Ms. World 2020 pageant is back again to share what she’s been doing with her #Switch movement in Eldorado Park.

Oliphant was joined by Kurni Hudson who is currently living in Kliptown. After just two weeks of the meeting, the two quickly became close as Oliphant has been working on her #Switch campaign.

Hudson shared: “Our relationship has grown into a sisterhood and I share my dreams with Desiree. I would like to make a bra, and many people would question me because there are so many bras’ out there. When I explained my dream to Desiree, she encouraged and pushed me to follow it.”

According to Hudson, she would like to make bras that won’t be available in shops because it will be custom made for her clients.

When asked where her inspiration came from, she said: “Apart from loving my own breasts, I have a pastor who had stage four cancer and she had to have one of her breasts removed. As a woman, I wish to construct bra cups that will be suitable for different individuals. Women do not have the exact same breast sizes, one is always slightly bigger than the other, so I would like to have the exact cup size for each breast. I would also like to make it affordable for all women because bras can be very expensive and not everyone can afford them.”

Oliphant added: “I heard her story of wanting women to feel like the better versions of themselves and there are so many women who have lost their breasts due to breast cancer and she would like to create these bras so that all women can feel their best in a dress. I started switching things up with her and I am pushing her to follow her dreams. Like I said in the previous interview, I would like to be held accountable for the things I promised to do in the community with my #Switch campaign in Eldorado Park.”

The newly formed sisterhood encourages women to stand by each other, help where they can, and build each other. Hudson plans on going to study for bra construction which will be an eighteen-month long course so that she can follow her dreams.

In line with the month of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Oliphant said, “I would like us to have a family walk in Eldorado Park for breast cancer awareness since it is breast cancer awareness month. I would like us to wear tops that say ‘uplift her’.”

If you would like to help with organising the walk or being part of the walk, you can contact the ladies on 062 690 2410/072 850 0012.
