11-year-old dies in culpable homicide incident

A case of culpable homicide has been opened and is currently under investigation.

An eleven-year-old boy lost his life after being knocked by a car on Union Road in Eldorado Park on Thursday.

Police were called to the scene following the accident and found the lifeless body of the boy on the side of the road.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the police found the female driver who alleges that she was driving her black Mazda cx3 motor vehicle along Union Road when she avoided bumping into the people pulling their recycling trolleys.

“She further alleged that as she was avoiding colliding with the trolleys, she noticed children suddenly crossing the road, and also tried to avoid colliding into them but unfortunately knocked an eleve-year-old boy “, explained Constable Roxanne Gibb of the Eldorado Police Station.

The victim had succumbed to the impact and was declared deceased on the scene by the paramedics who attended.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened and is currently under investigation.

Constable Gibb ended by sending her condolences to the family of the boy.
