This is the project by young people for young people.

Emshukantambo Secondary School gardening project is on virtue to grow big with the help of the community members, a farmer by the name of Brutas Nemukula, and Earth Owl.

A teacher at the School Pule Hlahane said the reason they started the garden was for the health nutrition of the learners who come from disadvantaged families.

He added that the vision grew bigger and they went beyond the school premises where they want to plant more vegetables that they can sell and use the money to help the learners from poor backgrounds.

He said this is the project by young people for young people. The partnership they have with Earth Owl is to help empower the learners who love farming with the hope that some of them will end up being farmers.

Hlahane said the partners want the school to be a beacon that motivates other schools. He made reference to another local school that is doing good in term of greening projects and said they also want to learn a thing or two from them.

He added that food gardens are normally done by primary schools. He said the Department of Agriculture donated gardening tools to help them in their project and it shows that they really want the project to work.
