Protea residents determined to keep healthy during this pandemic

The boot camp takes place every week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Life has been confusing and imbalanced for many since the news of the COVID-19 Pandemic, but the people from Protea have made it their point to balance their healthy bodies and mental health at one of the boot camps in their community.

The coach at the boot camp, Thulani Mahlangu explained that as an athletics coach, his life got slightly imbalanced after the announcement of the lockdown as that disallowed races and gatherings hindering his ability to earn, so he started the boot camp instead of being idle.

Mahlangu said, “First of all at my boot camp I make sure that I help people lose and maintain a healthy weight, gain strength and increase their energy levels so that they can go through their days with power and ease.”

The boot camp must have come at the right time for people like, Priscilla Magogole who used to have high blood pressure but ever since she started working out for health purposes, she said, “I feel very healthy and stronger daily, it’s like I am growing younger.”

The boot camp where Mahlangu explained how he impacts the entire body with his strategic exercises has helped even young people like Lesego Lebese who admitted that before working out at the boot camp, she was almost always fatigued.

Lebese said, “I used to get so tired and ate so much junk food, but now, I hardly get fatigued and I sleep a whole lot less than I used to. I have more energy now.”

Mahlangu said, “The boot camp was made available to help everyone stay sane and strong mentally and physically during the lockdown.”

The boot camp takes place every week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8 am to the park in Protea just close to the Magistrate’s Court.

Mahlangu said, “Let us take back the power over our bodies.”
