What Alert Level 2 means for local sport

Under alert level 3, only professional sports activities were permitted.

Kasi footballers and coaches couldn’t wait to return to the field to continue with organised amateur and semi-professional tournaments even when they were not given the green light to return under the ongoing lockdown.

Some clubs arranged football tournaments regardless of the lockdown restrictions. Under alert level 3, only professional sports activities were permitted and this has now been changed, both professional and non-professional sports matches are now allowed with restrictions.

As South Africa is now on alert level 2 of the lockdown restrictions, there are physical distancing and restrictions on sporting activities to prevent a resurgence of the virus.
