About 500 families recieved food parcels in Eldorado Park

The parcels consisted of mealie meal, oil, tin foods, and other basic food items that can help families survive during these trying times.

Greater Eldorado Park Youth Skills Centre distributed about 500 food parcels to residents from Eldorado Park. According to the project’s coordinator, Angus Mace, the organisation has been distributing the food parcels to those who are in need since 2014.

The Skills Centre runs programmes from the youth which is age 18 to 35 years old. Mace shared that they have a four-pillar programme which consists of advice and referrals, social programmes, technical skills, and business development.

They also have training for those who are over the age of 35. Greater Youth Skills Centre has training Computer, Call Centre, Business Skills, Welding and Electrical.

The center has been in partnership with various companies like Labour Department, Employment Labour, South African National Council on Alcoholism (SANCA), South African Police Service (SAPS) Coca Cola, Godisang Lula Way, Harmabee, Tshepo 1 Million, Heartlines, Impact Foundation, Feldman Funeral Policies, and the Fire Department.

The center as over 3230 graduates. When it comes to the food parcels, Mace said: “The outcome of the food parcels was about 500 in total that was handed out to the community. The center is once again grateful for the support from Social Development and the Food Banks for sponsoring the food parcels”.


The food parcels were distributed to residents.

The parcels consisted of mealie meal, oil, tin foods, and other basic food items that can help families survive during these trying times. Mace added that the residents all had to apply at the centre to receive the food parcels.

Many residents stood in long queues waiting for their names to be called so that they could receive their food parcels.
