Potholes take over the roads in Eldorado Park Extension 1

Roads become a nightmare for residents in Eldorado Park.

Many of the streets in the community have potholes, and to some, it is not a major issue but for some residents like Daylene Solomon’s, it really is an issue that she can not just leave.

Solomon’s is a resident of Eldorado Park Extension 1; she shared her concerns about how the streets look in the extension that she lives in.

“I feel that it is very sad that we are living in a community where our streets are so damaged.

“The potholes are everywhere, cars have to ride around it, and children play in it especially when there is water inside of the potholes.

“There are no road signs, the painting of the signs on the road is faded.

“There are 11 streets in extension 1 and not one street that looks decent. It’s so sad and is a huge concern for some of us in the community.

“Change needs to take place in our community, and if we can get any sort of assistance, we would really appreciate it. Who will have the money to fix a punctured tyre because of the potholes?

“I feel like no one is coming out and helping us in the community, I cannot turn my eyes away from this issue.

“We also do not have drains so when there’s water that runs into the potholes, it remains there and ends up becoming green, then you find children still playing in that contaminated water. During these times with the virus, it’s very scary to see children playing in such dirty water. I would just like something to be done with our roads,” said Solomons.

Ward Councillor Fazel Jaffer mentioned in a previous interview that the entire ward is full of potholes.

The Cllr was contacted for comment with regards to the conditions of the streets and indicated that he has all the reference numbers of residents who sent in complaints for Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA).
