“This freedom didn’t come cheap it came as a sacrifice that these women made. Imagine during apartheid two of your children among the most wanted by the state,” said Khumalo.

He said the lady never enjoyed life like other women because she was frequently bothered by law enforcers who were looking for her two sons.

Khumalo said Makhulu united comrades and commissars of MK and APLA.

He further explained that by hosting gogo’s birthday they wanted everyone to know the history of humble women who have made a meaningful contribution to the liberation movement.

MoAfrica Sarah Mafika extended her gratitude to gogo and wished her greatness and many more years to come.

“You suffered in life but here you are today still standing strong. Happy birthday makhulu,” said Mafika.

Chairperson of Basil Zuma Branch Sifiso Mngadi said they are grateful that in the history of Orlando they have decided to ignore their party differences as the ANC and the PAC to celebrate a phenomenal history maker who gave birth to two great leaders.
