Ms.World contestant wants to #Switch with Eldos

Ms. World celebrates the inner and outer beauty of all women.

born, Desiree Oliphant has taken the title of Mrs. United Nations South Africa and was a Mrs. South Africa semi-finalist, now she is going for the Ms. World title. Oliphant will represent the country in the Ms. World pageant in October this year in the United States of America.

According to the Ms. World website, the pageant believes that a woman’s values and beauty should not be defined on her relationship status or age. A beautiful 50-year-old may not look the same as a beautiful 26-year old but both are equally beautiful for their respective ages.

Ms. World celebrates the inner and outer beauty of all women. Oliphant is a mother of two is also a businesswoman and founder of the organisation called ‘#Switch’. “#Switch in partnership with South African Police Service (SAPS) is a movement where we promote one being a better version of yourself regardless of one’s circumstances.

“Seven years ago, it was about the schools and the use of drugs, and cyberbullying which was a huge thing in our communities. I am back in Eldorado Park because I want residents to #Switch.

“I want the youth of Eldorado Park to switch with me, to change their lifestyles. I’m not saying that people should immediately come off of drugs, that is an impossible task, I suffered depression and I was on depression tablets for a year, it took me a long time to move away from the medication, so I’m not saying leave it immediately but try to be the better version of yourself.

“If it means you take less drugs than usual then do so until you can totally leave it, whatever it may be, we can leave it slowly together,” said Oliphant.

The Ms. World contestant explained that whether she gets the crown or not in October, she would still like to be one of the women in Eldorado Park who made a difference in her community.

“There’s a concept that I came up with, it’s called ‘Coffee with a Cop’, its where people from the community come out and talk to the police officers. Residents can ask questions and find out information without any dockets or anything involved.

“We have had this event throughout Gauteng and I would like to have that in Eldorado Park as well,” said Oliphant. Her main focus is on the youth and school children from the community.

Oliphant would like to go to all the schools in Eldorado Park to give motivational talks and have a team of police officers and psychologists to offer counseling to those who are in need of it.

“I would really like to thank all my sponsors; Herbal Life, Nails&Beauty by Nonhlanhla, Askeso (Behavioural Health Group), SAPS, The Image Cartel, and Adega Restaurants for all that you are doing for me,” said Oliphant.

Ms. World contestant would like to be held accountable for her promise to #Switch in Eldorado Park and would also like the community to support her in her journey as well as invite her over to where she can have her motivational talks with the youth of the community.
