Presence of unity breeds success
A foundation that is aimed at bettering the lives of children who are the future leaders of tomorrow.
The United Against all Odds Foundation which began on January 2018, is a foundation that was formed and started by Manqoba Zwane, who is the chairperson together with his team, Mandla Sibeko (CEO), Jabulani Mpondo(Secretary general), Mandla Nhlapo, Bonginkosi Zondi, Refiloe Maseko and Constance Mahlangu.
This Foundation aims to focus on community economic empowerment. Manqoba Zwane feels that this is an organisation that had to be formed to improve the living standards of some children in communities.
“The founding of our organisation was inspired by the less fortunate, underprivileged, and the homeless.
“We started this project when we saw that there are many people suffering out there especially children who are underage and cannot do much to help themselves. They are basically our core focus and we chose to open this foundation and help where we can as a team,” commented Zwane.
“We are mostly focused on helping children from ages of 4-13 years of age, who cannot help themselves with their own needs of a everyday basis,” said Zwane.

Just like any other organisation and foundation, The United Against All Odds Foundation has had many challenges before.
“Our most difficult challenge since we have started and even before we started has been us trying to get a hold of people who can help us gain more exposure to the public and basically getting people who can help us move forward and be recognised by many and what we do as a foundation,” added Zwane.
Zwane further added to comment that although they have faced numerous challenges, there are certain things that still motivate them to move forward as a team and never give up on what they have started.
“We are motivated each and every day to keep pushing forward by the children of the indigenous land, in particular the marginalized black children that can prove that nothing formed against them shall prosper,” said Zwane.
“They are our future leaders. Our future pilots, doctors, entrepreneurs, and every future professional that needs our help. We need to start somewhere, and we will have a better South Africa. The absence of unity breeds failure” added Zwane.
United Against All Odds has been able to score great achievements. Zwane said that one of their greatest achievements thus far was them managing to revamp a daycare center called Thuto ke Lesedi which is situated in Dobsonville Gardens, they managed to raise paints, sleeping sponges and stationery for the kids., during this quest they got help from one of their community members and also from the help of Buela Private School to make this a success.
Zwane said their short-term goal is to create a humane, equal, and sustainable environment for children. Their long-term goal will be targeted to cover a wider mass of children.
“Our long-term goal is to have an environment that would benefit the very same children with equal opportunities and a healthy competitive environment. We are on a mission of creating innovators while fighting inequality,” expressed Zwane.
United Against All Odds has been facing challenges during the crisis of the current pandemic, one of their challenges has been them trying to get involved with several organisations during the lockdown, particularly the ones dealing with food parcels.
United Against All Odds has been trying to stay relevant by trying to engage with several corporate businesses. They were recently involved with Clover SA and with the help of Kgosi Seku, they were provided with hand wash soaps.

Future plans for this foundation remain big and motivated, they have goals and plans of expanding and hiring more people in the near future. Their plans remain steadfast and they are more than ready to reach and help a wider mass of people in communities.
