Daniel ‘Denzo Vurvai’ Mabunda uses art to escape from alcohol and drugs

Meet Denzo the rapper.

Daniel Mabunda who is affectionately known as Denzo Vurvai used his love for arts to escape from alcohol abuse and violence while growing up. The local musician who used to be a soccer player was later introduced to the music industry by a friend.

The rapper said in Grade 8 when he took part in a school concert, he could already tell that he was destined to do music.

Back in 2008 Denzo took part in the South African music show Jam Alley. Mabunda is amongst the fortunate people to have been able to share a stage with Motswako rapper Notshi and has worked with many upcoming artists.

He has released singles that are currently making rounds locally and on social media, namely, the street smash hit isishoshovi, amongst other tracks.

He alluded that his songs ‘shapa’, ‘inumber number,’ and ‘siya phanda’ got played on local radio stations such as Jozi FM, Kofifi FM, and Westside FM.

Denzo draws his inspiration from local Kwaito and House artists such as Zola, the late Mandoza, the late Brown Dash, Khuli Chana, TKZEE, and the late HHP.

“I believe that the sky is not the limit because the moment one puts limits to possibilities their possibilities become limited,” he said.

He feels he has a unique and better thing to offer in the music industry.

He added that his music compensates for everything he lacks.
