Sowetans reflect on regulations for alert level 3 hardest to abide by

Level 3 regulations.

Young Sowetans were asked how they felt about the new Alert level3 regulations imposed by President Ramaphosa and this is what the youth had to say on this matter.

Tukelo Mofokeng

“I am not happy with the way taxis are operating now concerning the 100% capacity and also the prices increasing.

Alcohol being banned again is not fair because our economy is highly boosted by alcohol. A lot of people are also losing their jobs due to the alcohol ban. It is highly disappointing because a lot of people are affected.”

Mashudu Demana

“Out of all the regulations that they reinstated, I feel the one that is most difficult to abide by is the 100% taxi capacity.

“We have reached a peak of COVID-19 and the last thing we want is to travel in a taxi with more than 12 passengers because there is no social distancing.

“We are all seated so close to each other and the only solution that our ministers have is to drive with the windows open. so that is quite difficult to abide by especially since it is winter.”

Lawrance Mashilo

“The increase in taxi fares is not good because some of us do no work and this pandemic has put everything on hold.

“We are just trying to make ends meet so that we can survive. They are killing us with the increase, and it is not fair.”

Aphiwe Seduana

“The one that I think is the hardest to abide by is the curfew because some people work very far from their homes and they do not have cars.

“Those people rely on public transport, so if it happens that they work long hours they may get stranded at work because of the curfew. So I think the issues of the curfew may affect a lot of people in that manner.”
