Querin Rubidge (18) from Eldos ready to become the next Mr. Youth Voice South Africa

Rubidge would like to start his own foundation which will help residents who have been abused, dealing with substance abuse, and people who are dealing with suicidal thoughts.

Querin Rubidge (18) a Grade 10 learner at Eldorado Park Secondary entered Mr. Youth Voice South Africa and explained that it is a platform that he is using to raise awareness on Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

“I entered the competition because I love modeling so much. Miss Universe; Zozibini Tunzi and Tamaryn Green are my role models. They both solve gender-based violence around the country and I believe that I can also make a difference with my voice

There’s been a lot of gender-based violence cases that we are hearing on the news and the thought of a person leaving the house and not returning is very common in our communities and it’s scary,” said Rubidge.

When asked what the title would mean to him, Rubidge shared: “The title is a big one because with the title ‘Mr. Youth Voice South Africa’, you have to go to different communities throughout South Africa and try to make a change and inspire the residents.”

Rubidge would like to start his own foundation which will help residents who have been abused, dealing with substance abuse, and people who are dealing with suicidal thoughts.

He shared that he would also like to learn from community leader Dereleen James.

“When I’m done with school, I want to go for the Mr. South Africa title and then from there Mr. World because I would like to represent the country.

I’ve learned that respect works both ways and that you should be true to who you are and not change who want to still become because of people,” explained Rubidge.
