More information was received by the crime combating team about a Malawian National man who was suspected to have been selling explosives from a house in Creswell Park in Roodepoort.

When the officers searched the suspected house they discovered 23 blasting cartridges, one 14 meter polar detonating cord and a meter connector capped fuse.

Fihla said that the SAPS Bomb Disposal Unit was immediately called to the scene, “And they positively identified the items as explosives.”

The house was then further searched and various items suspected to have been stolen were found including a bicycle, a television stand, and other items estimated to be at a value of R20 000 or more, according to Fihla.

All the items were booked in at the 13 in Roodepoort Police Station and the suspected man was taken to Diepsloot for detainment because the police station in Roodepoort was closed at the time.
