500 food parcels for the beneficiaries of Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry in Orlando West

The beneficiaries had to come with a parent or guardian to collect groceries.

The Thebe Foundation Relief Fund donated 500 food parcels to the beneficiaries of Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry in Orlando West. Upon arrival at the center, attendees were screened to check if they are not a danger to other people.

The Programme Manager at the centre Carol Dyanti said during this difficult time many people are unemployed, so this donation comes at the right time. She alluded that some of the children from the centre are on chronic medication and cannot take it on empty stomachs.

“This will go a long way in ensuring that the nutrition part of our children is actually being taken care of,” she said.

One of the recipients Josephine Ngoloba said she was incredibly happy for Mandela Day as they received food that will feed their families. She extended her gratitude to the donors.

“Our former president the late Nelson Mandela once said that, ‘What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived; it is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.’ This is precisely the reason why Thebe Foundation & HIVSA teams have continued to brave the challenges of Covid19 and ensured our people continue to be fed during the lockdown.

“The majority of us may take for granted that we have access to hot meals every day with no need to think about where the next meal will come from and some of us have never had to go to bed hungry,” said Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Foundation Trust Lehlohonolo Chabeli.
