From Back up singer to Best Gospel Artist nominee
Help Tsholo bag her first MAMA Award.
Tsholo Moatshe’s nomination for the MAMA Awards in the Best Gospel Artist category is her getting recognition of what she is passionate about, and winning the award would see doors opening up for her in the hard music industry.
Moatshe, who is getting nominated for the second time in her music career came a long way, her first nomination was for the Ingoma Awards for the Best Soul Gospel Album in 2017. From being a backup singer for Khanyo Maphimulo back in 1999, when she was still a high scholar, dancing as a hobby, Moatshe always loved music and the beat.
Later on, in 2003 Moatshe explained that she had to respond to her music calling by joining a musical group called Ntsako in Cape Town, she was in tertiary by then.

Moatshe said, “When I moved back to Johannesburg I became a backup artist for Omega Khumalo before releasing my first project, Called Dumisa in 2012.”
Dumisa translated means praise and worship.
In 2016 she went on to record and released another project called Not on my own, she said, “My brand is all about giving hope to nations, because like my name Tsholofelo, I signify hope.”
Tsholo, who has lived in most parts of Soweto like Protea and Braamfischer understands that some people like various genres of music, she said, “My music is broad, it is soulful and upbeat, I make sure that my music is relevant for people who don’t listen to gospel music because my music gives hope, heals and shares solutions.”
It came as a pleasant surprise for her to be nominated again in her career after not winning the Ingoma award, she said that winning the MAMA Award would really make her happy above giving her opportunities in the music industry which she said it was hard and difficult to succeed in without resilience.
Moatshe said, “People can help me achieve my goal of winning the award and representing Soweto as its beam of hope by voting for me.”
