While nations are battling with the Corona Virus pandemic, Mamelodi Sundowns has launched an exciting challenge, for football and music lovers in Mzansi. The club is looking for what will become the ultimate Mamelodi Sundowns song as part of the club’s 50 years anniversary celebrations.

In the spirit of opening up the industry and creating job opportunities, the challenge invites the youth in South Africa who are at home to compose, produce and/or sing ‘Mamelodi Sundowns’ themed songs in any of the 11 South African official languages, as well as the two Khoisan languages of Xun and Khwe, which will be voted for by the public to determine the ultimate winning song.

The overall winner of the challenge will walk away with a whopping R1 000 000.00 and will be announced in December.

As part of the challenge build-up and journey to discovering the winner, each month, thirteen (13) individuals, one in each official language plus two in the Khoisan languages of Xun and Khwe will qualify as finalists through consumer votes.

Shortlisted songs will be given airplay on various radio stations across the country where the public will be given an opportunity to vote for their favourite songs from the shortlisted songs.

” We are looking for creativity, something fresh and relatable. A Mamelodi Sundowns themed song, that includes either KaBoYellow, Phakamisa u7, Bafana BaStyle, etc, everything that the Championship brand Masandawana truly represents,” said Dube.

The global pandemic has without a doubt interfered with most of our plans, and according to Dube, The Brazilians also had bigger plans to celebrate their 50 years anniversary.

“There were big plans scheduled under normal circumstances to celebrate 50 years of Masandawana brilliance, such as activations, roadshows amongst others. However, technology has afforded us the opportunity to celebrate this milestone, with fans from the comfort of their own homes. With a glittering gala banquet set to take place in December,” she said.

“#SingWithSundowns is an opportunity of a lifetime by Mamelodi Sundowns and the Mamelodi Sundowns foundation. the competition is open for any South African,” Dube concludes.
